March 11 and 12, 2012  Laser sailing.  We had six boats out both days in windy conditions.  Wayfarers skipped Saturday and had three out Sunday.   Scots down to three on Saturday and four on Sunday.  Luke and Cameron came out in the 420 for the last race on Saturday so we had seven on the scoring sheet.

Rob Krentel    1-1-1-1-2-1+1-1-2-1-2-1-2       17

Jerry Beck       2-2-2-2-3-2+2-2-3-4-3-4-1        32

Marc Solal       ns-3-4-3-1-3+3-3-4-2-1-3-4      42

Tom Jennings  4-4-3-4-4-nf+5-5-5-3-5-5-5      60

Sam Chapin   3-nf-n-n-n-n+4-4-1-5-4-2-3         66

Vince Renzoni 5-nf-n-n-n-n+6-6-6-6-6-6-6       87

Luke Yates/Cameron Smith    420     4th in one Race.

We are glad to have the 420s come and race with us and will take times and correct when they come.  Luke is recovering from his wrist surgery.  We look forward to when he is at full speed.

Vince was sailing a 4.7 both days.  Doing a lot better on Sunday.  The boom is lower on that rig and takes some getting used to especially when the wind is up and everything is moving faster.  Then he got Sam out in the 4.7 on Sunday so we would have two out.

Sam sailed the radial on Saturday but was just not comfortable sailing with that much wind.  No fun.  So he went in.  Very interesting with the 4.7 on Sunday.  If you start next to a full rig you are in trouble and the back wind off the big sail really disturbs the little sail, but if you have enough wind you are up to hull speed.  The full rigs and the radials are screwed into the hull speed also.  Sam won one race when Rob went left and Sam went right and got the last wind shift.  There were a few holes out there in the wind and the 4.7 really bogs down when it doesn’t have the wind.

Tom Jennings was sailing his radial both days.  He will come out and sail with us some this week when we are practicing mark roundings.  That should bring him up a lot.

The next three folks sailed the full rigs.

Marc Solal has moved out of the bottom of the fleet and won a race both days.  Good work Marc.

Jerry Beck was able to join us both days and finally won a race on Sunday.  He generally had most of the second places cornered.

Rob Krentel sailed away with most of the first places, but shared one with Marc on Sunday and with three others on Sunday.  He sailed the two hours Saturday morning and then went out on the Windsurfer for another two hours in the afternoon.  I got tired just watching.

Thanks to Joan Bryant and Sally Renzoni for RC duty.   We missed David Chapin who is resting his sore knee and Patrick Daniel who was down in Miami trying out his new Viper 640 three man hot boat and Charlie Jensen who is around just watching all the fun and Alejandro who is probably off racing the batmobile.
